Stop and visit any one of a number of quaint antique shops, traditional clam shacks, or the occasional potter’s shed or garden nook. All of these spots are sweet, momentary strays on the way to the postcard perfection of what Yankee Magazine calls one of New England’s prettiest towns*, Brewster, Massachusetts.

Cape Cod Repertory Theater Brewster, Side Man

This fall, the Cape Cod Repertory Theater will present "Side Man". American playwright Warren Leight tells the story of the rise and fall of jazz in New York through the eyes of a young man recounting his father's story as a jazz musician who lived for the moment when he could jam with the best in the business.

September 16 - October 17, 2010
Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm
Sundays at 2 pm, except Sunday September 19
Wednesday performance October 6 at 7 pm
Tickets $25

by Warren Leight
directed by Victoria E. height: 200px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 200px;" width="320" />
We recently learned about the Cookies for Kids' Cancer foundation from our friend, Melanie Underwood, Chef-Instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education, and have decided to contribute to this organization which supports the important work being done to raise awareness about pediatric cancer research.

<a href="http://www.isaiahclark.com/?blog=cookiesforkids"target=_blank" >Isaiah Clark House has made a commitment to donate 5% of the revenue earned on all guest reservations for stays during the month of July 2010 to this organization.

Cookies for Kids' Cancer a nonprofit foundation dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. This grass-roots organization was started by a mom who desperately wanted to help her child (and dozens of other families) battle a deadly form of pediatric cancer known as Neuroblastoma. She was shocked to learn that a scant 30% of children survive this form of cancer.

What could she do? What did she do? She organized a 'larger-than-life' bake sale. You might be surprised to learn that the commitment of one mom and hundreds of volunteers resulted in the sale of 96,000 cookies at a profit of over $400,000 on their first bake sale. Thus "Cookies for Kids' Cancer" came to life and allow schools, clubs, churches, businesses, and individuals to raise thousands of dollars to directly support research done at Comprehensive Cancer Centers around the US. You can learn more by visiting the Cookies for Kids' Cancer website.

We hope you will be staying at our <a href="http://www.isaiahclark.com/rooms.htm?blog=cookiesforkids"target=_blank" >Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast, Isaiah Clark House during the month of July and take part by doing nothing more than making your reservation, knowing that we will be contributing 5% of the revenue generated from your stay to this most worthwhile organization.

The cookies are on us.

Steve and Philomena
Isaiah Clark House Bed and Breakfast Inn
Your Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast

Busy Season in 2009

Winding down from a busy Inn Season we reflect on this year. Going into the season 2009 we were all a little afraid of the Economy.
How would we make it through without the tourists and travelers?
Well I am happy to say we made it through and some this year.
You have all shown us we are moving in forward in a positive way and that we continue to do the right thing for all of you. Recently we attended our very first Paii conference; and let me say if you are an aspiring innkeeper..........Go to Paii. We learned so much in a short couple of days. The importance of marketing and how to market is a daily challenge. We have learned so much this year; especially from Reservation Nexus and Acorn Internet Services. As a home business operation the world is constantly changing and evolving and we have to change and evolve with it or become a dinasour in this business.

Thank you for stopping by,
Steve and Philomena
Isaiah Clark House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Business Conferences

We attended the Paii (Professional Assocation of International Innkeepers) New England Conference in Nahaua, NH this past week.
We certainly learned a lot about attracting, attaining and holding on to our guests.
If you are an aspiring innkeeper or new to the industry we highly suggest attending the conference in Austin, TX this coming March.
We have learned so much the past couple days on how to increase volume to our Inn.
We were lucky enough to have arranged Lisa and Mark Kolb of Acorn Internet Services to come to Cape Cod and teach some of what they know to our neighboring innkeepers.
We believe the philosphy of sharing, with our fellow innkeepers, the knowledge we have acquired over the years.
If we work together we will grow together.

Steve and Philomena
Isaiah Clark House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Northern Bobwhite Quail to be Released in Cape Cod

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.ccmnh.org/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=215"target="_blank">

On October 31st, be a part of Cape Cod natural history. Lots of walking and shopping in nearby Wellfleet,Orleans and a wine tour in Truro as well.

That evening the gang decided to hang out and enjoy our Dining Room and 2 Living rooms that we have to offer. It was decided to order in that night.
A call was made to Ardeo Tuscan Tavern located here in Brewster.
We suggested they try the fabulous brick oven pizzas that they have!

In the morning we all enjoyed another wonderful breakfast of Cornmeal Pancakes with homemade peach, pair and maple fruit sauce, yummy!

This day was spent traveling throughout the Cape looking for great finds in many of the shops and antique stores on the Cape.
One particular store that was a huge hit was Gustare Gourmet Oil and Vinegar shop in Chatham, MA. Everyone raved about what a great find this was and how they all bought so many different kinds of oils and vinegars to try at home!

Overall this group of 12 really enjoyed their stay with us! They said "we will eat anything" upon arrival; however after a little discussion about whether they ate meat at breakfast....I found out the he was a heart patient and they prefer a vegetarian diet.

Well we assured them we are happy to provide for their diet. From previous experiences we have served to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free diets.

We served them steel oats with soy milk and organic honey on their first day followed by cornmeal and multi grain pancakes on their second day. Let's not forget a must stop on the Cape to Cuffy's for T-Shirts.
One stop along the way brought them to Brewster Sweets for a much needed Chocolate break. Another must see in Brewster is the General Store that the ladies just loved!

These ladies were troopers as the rain was coming down in buckets on most of the trip here. They did not let it affect the good time that they were having!

We were especially glad to see them enjoy our Inn so much. The feelings were that this was a home away from home for all of them.

All throughout the weekend jokes were made about a Ghost Cat; being spotted about the Inn; Sugar pieces that were mistaken for croûton's at the Brewster Fish House, these ladies were such a pleasure to be around. We enjoyed the laughter that filled the Inn.

Steve and Philomena
Isaiah Clark House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Cape Abilities in Cape Cod

Congratulations to Cape Abilities
