Winding down from a busy Inn Season we reflect on this year. Going into the season 2009 we were all a little afraid of the Economy.
How would we make it through without the tourists and travelers?
Well I am happy to say we made it through and some this year.
You have all shown us we are moving in forward in a positive way and that we continue to do the right thing for all of you. Recently we attended our very first Paii conference; and let me say if you are an apiring innkeeper..........Go to Paii. We learned so much in a short couple of days. The importance of marketing and how to market is a daily challenge. We have learned so much this year; especially from Reservation Nexus and Acorn Internet Services. As a home business operation the world is constantly changing and evolving and we have to change and evolve with it or become a dinasour in this business.
Thank you for stopping by,

Business Conferences
We attended the Paii (Professional Assocation of International Innkeepers) New England Conference in Nahaua, NH this past week.
We certainly learned a lot about attracting, attaining and holding on to our guests.
If you are an aspiring innkeeper or new to the industry we highly suggest attending the conference in Austin, TX this coming March.
We have learned so much the past couple days on how to increase volume to our Inn.
We were lucky enough to have arranged Lisa and Mark Kolb of Acorn Internet Services to come to Cape Cod and teach some of what they know to our neighboring innkeepers.
We believe the philosphy of sharing, with our fellow innkeepers, the knowledge we have acquired over the years.
If we work together we will grow together.

Cape Cod Weekend Getaway
How very cool it was to have six (6) couples stay with us here at our Inn.
This group traveled from New Jersey to the Cape for a fun filled weekend.
They started the weekend out with a dinner at the zagat rated Red Pheasant Bistro located in Dennis, MA. After a really fabulous meal they all headed down to Paine's Creek Beach for a wonderful sunset.

On Saturday they all enjoyed Philomena's fantastic breakfast of Baked Eggs and Roasted tomatoes (from our garden).
Located in our dining room are pots and pots of 100% Columbian Coffee to go around.
The day was spent in Provincetown on a whale watch; that they just loved! Lots of walking and shopping in nearby Wellfleet,Orleans and a wine tour in Truro as well.
That evening the gang decided to hang out and enjoy our Dining Room and 2 Living rooms that we have to offer. It was decided to order in that night.
A call was made to Ardeo Tuscan Tavern located here in Brewster.
We suggested they try the fabulous brick oven pizzas that they have!
In the morning we all enjoyed another wonderful breakfast of Cornmeal Pancakes with homemade peach, pair and maple fruit sauce, yummy!
This day was spent traveling throughout the Cape looking for great finds in many of the shops and antique stores on the Cape.
One particular store that was a huge hit was Gustare Gourmet Oil and Vinegar shop in Chatham, MA. Everyone raved about what a great find this was and how they all bought so many different kinds of oils and vinegars to try at home!
Overall this group of 12 really enjoyed their stay with us! We look forward to seeing them again and again.

Bed and Breakfast Recipes
We have with us a couple from Michigan; here on Cape Cod to find great items for their store; that did not want to "bother us" with their diet requirements. They said "we will eat anything" upon arrival; however after a little discussion about whether they ate meat at breakfast....I found out the he was a heart patient and they prefer a vegetarian diet.
Well we assured them we are happy to provide for their diet. From previous experiences we have served to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free diets.
We served them steel oats with soy milk and organic honey on their first day followed by cornmeal and multi grain pancakes on their second day. Their final breakfast is to be a tofu scramble and soy sausage.
Both husband and wife were so thankful that they mentioned they were vegetarians!

Cape Cod Weekend Getaway

This past August 28-30,2009 we had a group of ladies from East Texas, Dallas and Virginia come to the Inn for a family reunion (Smith family).
They had not gotten together; minus the kids and husbands; for quite some time and decided on a "Ladies Only" weekend on Cape Cod.
On each evening; in their PJ's they all gathered in our upstairs common/living room and showed off their purchases and collectibles that they gathered throughout the day while shopping in almost every village on Cape Cod.
They traveled all along Historic Route 6A to the Sandwich Glass Museum followed by a trip to the famous Christmas Tree Shops in Hyannis. Let's not forget a must stop on the Cape to Cuffy's for T-Shirts.
One stop along the way brought them to Brewster Sweets for a much needed Chocolate break. Another must see in Brewster is the General Store that the ladies just loved!
These ladies were troopers as the rain was coming down in buckets on most of the trip here. They did not let it affect the good time that they were having!
We were especially glad to see them enjoy our Inn so much. The feelings were that this was a home away from home for all of them.
All throughout the weekend jokes were made about a Ghost Cat; being spotted about the Inn; Sugar pieces that were mistaken for croƻton's at the Brewster Fish House, these ladies were such a pleasure to be around. We enjoyed the laughter that filled the Inn.
